About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Account Director to lead client relationships and drive success in our fast-paced, collaborative agency environment. The Account Director will be responsible for managing and growing client accounts, providing strategic guidance to the account team, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional work that meets and exceeds client expectations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building strong client partnerships, leading high-performing teams, and navigating complex client dynamics. As a leader within the agency, the Account Director will foster a culture of excellence, mentoring and developing junior team members while collaborating closely with the Group Account Director (GAD) and other department leads. The Account Director will be adept at understanding clients' businesses, identifying growth opportunities, and developing strategic solutions that drive measurable results. The Account Director will be comfortable having difficult conversations with clients when necessary, demonstrating a balance of diplomacy, assertiveness, and problem-solving skills. They will be able to navigate challenging situations, maintain composure under pressure, and find creative solutions that align with both client and agency goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary leader and point of accountability for assigned client accounts, ensuring the delivery of exceptional work.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and cross-functional teamwork, ensuring the account team works seamlessly with other departments
  • Continuously monitor and analyze account performance, providing regular reports and insights to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as an escalation point for client issues or concerns, working proactively to resolve challenges and maintain client satisfaction
  • Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging the account team to push creative boundaries and explore new ideas
  • Develop and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with senior-level clients, serving as a strategic partner and advisor
  • Identify and pursue organic growth opportunities within existing client accounts, proactively presenting ideas and solutions that expand the scope of work
  • Mentor, coach, and develop junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and presentation skills, effectively articulating complex ideas and strategies to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and address potential client concerns or challenges, taking a solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Stay current with industry trends, consumer insights, and emerging technologies, leveraging this knowledge to inform strategy and drive innovation

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in account management, with a proven track record of leading successful client engagements
  • Deep understanding of integrated marketing communications, with experience across multiple channels and disciplines
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
  • Strong strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to analyze complex business challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas effectively to both internal and external audiences
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, with a focus on partnership and long-term success
  • Experience managing large-scale, complex projects from concept through execution
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong business acumen, with the ability to understand financial drivers and make data-driven decisions
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
